There is a trick for memorizing the increasing energy sequence!
All that you have to do is to draw diagram representing the electronic configurations like this:
1s2
2s2 2p6
3s2 3p6 3d10
4s2 4p6 4d10 4f14
5s2 5p6 5d10
6s2 6p6
Now strike the above diagonally (line) so as you get the order:
1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 4s, 3d, 4p, 5s, 4d, 5p, 6s, 4f, 5d,

draw this as a reference diagram when writing the electronic configuration. That's it. Hope it helped!
